Dear Friends,
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas spoke at the University of Austin on April 15, 2026, in celebration of the 250th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence. Here it is on YouTube. It's worth listening to. I'll give you a few high points.

It's 1 hour long. The first 30 minutes he made these 2 points. (1) Our rights come from God, not from the Government, and (2) the Declaration ended with them pledging their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. They were committed.
In the second 30 minutes he talks about how President Woodrow Wilson brought Progressivism to America from Bismark's Germany. This second point is very important. First, German culture is collectivist and believes the State is more important than the individual. Also, which he did not address, Progressivism assumes that with enough political power, science would allow Progressives to re-make society. They can make paradise on earth if they just have enough power. But this dream of Progressives remaking human society has been destroyed by Chaos Theory. See this article:

I heard a lawyer in Dallas make a statement in his presentation that we only have the rights granted to us by the government. I asked him if he was a collectivist and he said yes. This is the attitude of Progressivism that Justice Thomas warned us about.
I enjoyed the 30 minute Q&A session with Justice Clarence Thomas after the speech. He was relaxed and it was very enjoyable.

The Epoch Times published an article about the speech. You could read it instead of listening to the one hour speech.
