Attend the Republican State Convention

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Do please consider attending the Texas Republican State Convention in San Antonio on May 23 to 25.  You will want to attend as a delegate so you can have voting privileges.

As a delegate you can vote for:

planks to the Texas GOP party platform,

members to the State Republican Executive Committee,

the Texas delegates to the National GOP Convention,

the Texas representatives to the Republican National Committee (RNC), 

the Texas members of the Electoral College

I think I missed a few items, but you get the idea.  This is important.  We are defining the purpose and leadership of our party.  This is particularly special because it is a Presidential election year.

I will mention that I am running for a spot on the State Republican Executive Committee, running against an incumbent.  I hope to gain your vote for this position, SREC SD8 Committeeman.  You cannot vote for me unless you attend.  I'll tell you more about this in a later email.

Be patient while I explain the process of becoming a delegate. You are elected to be a delegate to the state convention at an earlier convention, an SD convention.  The Senate District (SD) conventions are held on March 23, 2024 Saturday.  Almost all of you will be in SD8, Angela Paxton's district.  A few of you might be in SD2, Bob Hall's District, or SD30, Drew Springer's district.

You are elected to be a delegate to the SD convention at an earlier convention, a precinct  convention, to be held on March 9, 2024 Saturday, after the primary election.  To attend your precinct convention you should vote in the Republican primary.  The Collin County GOP will tell you the location of the precinct conventions and the SD conventions later, but for now you know the date is March 9, which is shortly after the March 5 primary election.

You need to know your precinct number, which is on your registration card.  You just show up at the precinct convention, which is a number of people from your precinct huddled around in a circle of chairs.  You will determine who will be invited to be delegates to the SD Convention.  That is the important part of attending your precinct convention is that you get to go to the next convention as a delegate, your SD convention.

At your precinct convention you can propose planks for our party platform that will be considered at the SD convention.  Additional proposals for party planks can be made at the SD convention.   You will vote at the SD convention for which planks you want to recommend to the state convention.  Also at the SD convention you will vote on who will be delegates to the state convention.

In a nutshell, to attend the state convention you (1) vote in the primary election, (2) attend the precinct convention, and (3) attend the SD convention.  The precinct convention and SD conventions are short.  The precinct convention is a couple of hours long.  The SD convention might be all day, 8 am to 5 pm.  The State convention is 3 days long.  You can go earlier if you want to testify at committee hearings.

Don't feel overwhelmed.  If you just show up at the precinct and SD conventions, people will help you through it.  If you do become a delegate to the state convention, I could host some zoom meetings to help you understand the state convention.

Based on past experience, there will be informative films for you at the convention that you might like.  

Here's a story of how we make a difference.  A neighbor went to the precinct convention and proposed a plank, also called a resolution.  It was rejected at the SD convention, but she went to the state convention, gave testimony, and her proposed plank was merged in with another plank so that her efforts improved our party platform.  You can make a difference.  That's what the grassroots is all about, us making a difference.

At the state convention we picked eight (8) planks to make priorities for our legislators and then we watched the legislators and nudged them to get them to listen to us.  And when they don't listen to us, then we have a reason to remove them from office.

This is what grassroots politics is all about: us making our voices heard.

I attended a candidate's forum Tuesday night, 1/9/24, at Collin College that was sponsored by Collin County Patriots.  The three candidates for Tax Assessor-Collector participated:

My conclusion is that Scott Grigg was head-and-shoulders above the other candidates both in his pertinent experience and his ability to discuss the job of Tax Assessor-Collector.

Yes Illegal Aliens Can Vote in Some Cities

 I was asked about illegal aliens voting.  It is not legal yet in Texas, but it is legal in some cities across America.  

"Federal law does not prohibit non-citizens, including those who are undocumented and not authorized to legally live or work in the U.S., from voting in local or state elections."

Texas Court of Criminal Appeals

 Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals undermined honest elections in Texas by stripping the Texas Attorney General of the power granted to him by the legislature to prosecute election fraud.  This means that in counties controlled by Democrats, the Democratic party is free to cheat in the elections knowing that a Democrat District Attorney will not prosecute their party and that the Attorney General has been made powerless by the judges on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

The Attorney General (AG) has had the power granted by the legislature to prosecute election fraud for many years.  You can read the AG's case here in his petition to have the case reheard by the full court:

Fourteen State Senators and the Lt. Governor wrote a "friend of the court" brief supporting the AG.  The Senators said that the legislature gave the AG the power to prosecute election fraud and declared that this power was not unconstitutional.  You can read what the State Senators submitted here:

What the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals did was just dirty politics, much like many courts run by Democrats around the country throwing Trump off the ballot by making false statements about the 14th amendment to the US Constitution.  Judges and District Attorneys and prosecutors can be dishonest and so can the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals be dishonest.  But we can vote out the bums on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

Many of us called and emailed the Judges on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and told them that we would wait for their reelection and do our best to remove them.   That time has come.  It is hard to get an attorney to primary a sitting judge, but we have challengers for all three of the judges on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals who are up for reelection.

Mr. Finley might have some problems with his campaign, but surely he must still be an improvement over the incumbent.

We must remove bad Republicans from office.  This is serious business.  Republicans helped Biden steal the 2020 election and people are dying in the Ukraine and losing their jobs and homes in America because Biden is a disaster.

We must vote out Republicans who collaborate with Democrats in stealing elections.  The incumbents on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals in this election must go.  Your vote is important.

The Constable Races

 Dear Friends and Neighbors,

You might have seen signs from candidates for a county constable position.

You can learn more about the position of constable from their website:

Here is the description for your convenience:  "The Constable is the chief process server of the precinct and is also required to serve as the bailiff in the Justice of the Peace courts. The Constable's office executes and returns to courts all warrants, capias warrants, other criminal process, citations, subpoenas, forcibles and writs."

There are 4 positions.  They are all up for election and you can vote for one, depending on where you live.  They are in geographic districts.  Your voter registration card will not tell you which one is your constable.   Here is a website where you can see a map and you can enter your address to know for certain which constable is yours:  https://maps.collincountytx.gov/ccmap_constables/

Are You in SBOE District 12?

 Dear Friends and Neighbors,

When you vote in the coming primary elections, there is a contest among Republicans for the State Board of Education (SBOE), District 12.  You might be wondering if you live in District 12.  You can look at your voter registration card and hunt for that small box, or you can look at a map.  It is some work to find a for District 12, but I found it for you.  Here is the link to it:  https://wrm.capitol.texas.gov/fyiwebdocs/PDF/sboe/dist12/m1.pdf

If you live in Collin County, then you are in District 12.  The district is much larger than just Collin County.  Here is a snapshot of District 12.

The current District 12 SBOE member is Pam Little.  Chad Green of McKinney is running against her and I recommend Chad Green for your vote.  I will say more about this race at another time.

Good work from your Republican Party -- Murr Censured

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I bring you good news, an example of your Texas Republican Party doing good work.

Representative Andrew Murr, who led the kangaroo court that improperly impeached Attorney General Ken Paxton, will not be seeking reelection.  This is largely due to the work of the RPT (Republican Party of Texas) SREC (State Republican Executive Committee).  The SREC is essentially the ruling body of the RPT.  They met in September and announced that they had enough evidence to hit Andrew Murr with a Rule 44 Censure.   They said then (I was present) that they could not yet vote on the censure because they needed to give Representative Murr time to come and defend himself to the SREC.

Instead of going to the SREC and defending his actions, Murr announced his retirement from the Texas House.  Here is an article about it:

When I attended the December SREC meeting, they did the vote to censure Murr under SREC Rule 44.

Under a Rule 44 censure, Murr cannot run as a Republican in the primary and if he filed for any race in the 2024 Republican Primary, the SREC would spend money to educate voters about his censure.  This was enough incentive for Andrew Murr to announce his retirement from the Texas Legislature.  Here is the full text of the censure of Murr:

If I heard the SREC correctly, they will try the same approach to Dade Phelan.  Phelan's supporters in the SREC delayed the work of censure so it is taking longer to censure Phelan.

The Republican Party at the national level seems pretty ineffective at times.  The county GOP parties sometimes go into the weeds.  But the SREC is doing well, which means that overall the GOP in Texas is doing well.  Many Republican elected officials are terrible, but they are not the party.  You and I, the grassroots, are the party by voting and going to the Republican Conventions.  The SREC and RPT are the GOP in Texas, not our elected officials.

We organize as a party to elect good politicians and to remove bad politicians.  We got rid of Murr with a Rule 44 Censure.  We are getting rid of our state reps in Collin County at the ballot box.  Our GOP is a good party only when we get rid of the bad eggs in political office.
