Remembering the Big Picture Behind 9/11

 Dear Friends,

I remember the horror of watching the Twin Towers burn 25 years ago.  I would like to turn our attention to the forces behind the attack.  We need to look at the big picture.

In 1988 the Russians started leaving Afghanistan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_withdrawal_from_Afghanistan).  In 1989 the Berlin Wall fell (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fall_of_the_Berlin_Wall).  Many seemed to think all of our troubles were over, but in 1992 Samuel P. Huntington gave a lecture that eventually became a book, The Clash of Civilizations (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clash_of_Civilizations).  The conflict that was looming was between Political Islam and Western Civilization.

In 622 A.D. Muhammad moved from Mecca to Medina and started Jihad to spread his power.  His followers attacked Europe from the East and the West. In 732 A.D. Charles Martel stopped the Muslim invaders in Western Europe in the Battle of Tours (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Tours).  In 1453 the Muslims captured Constantinople, ending nearly 1500 years of the Roman Empire (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fall_of_Constantinople).  In 1683 the Muslim invasion of Eastern Europe was stopped at the Battle of Vienna (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Vienna).  

From 622 to 1683, over a thousand years, Political Islam tried to conquer Europe by force.  On September 11, 2001, Political Islam was waging Jihad by killing people in New York City.  On July 7, 2005, a series of bombs were set off in London by young Muslims who had been born and raised in England.  I encourage you to see the documentary on Netflix, Attack on London.

 

 

The key point here is that you never know when an individual Muslim or a group of Muslims will decide to kill us as their personal act of Jihad.  Whether it is a group of teenagers in London or Osama Bin Laden with Al-Qaeda, this killing does not threaten our civilization.   But the Muslim Brotherhood does have a plan to destroy our civilization, as detailed in An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Brotherhood in North America (https://www.investigativeproject.org/document/20-an-explanatory-memorandum-on-the-general), captured in 1991.  Notice that they were planning our demise 10 years before 9/11, and they are succeeding in their slow approach to destroying our civilization.  They call their approach Civilization Jihad.  The key to Political Islam is Sharia Law.  The goal is to subjugate the entire world to Sharia Law.

You need to understand that the Muslim Brotherhood was created in Egypt because the Egyptian people and government were not complying with Sharia Law.  In 1940 Anwar Sadat, as an army officer, met the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, but Sadat did not understand the Muslim Brotherhood.  In his memoir [1], page 22, he said this about the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. "He was indeed well qualified, from all points of view, to be a religious leader.  Besides, he was a true Egyptian: good humored, decent, and tolerant."  Sadat was totally clueless to the goals of the Muslim Brotherhood.  In 1981 Anwar Sadat, then President of Egypt, was assassinated by a group derived from the Muslim Brotherhood, a group called Islamic Jihad (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Anwar_Sadat).  What the Muslim Brotherhood truly hated was the influence of Western Civilization upon Egyptian culture.  Let me give you another example.

In the 1950's an Egyptian educator, Sayyid Qutb, came to America to study our education systems.  He hated America, thinking it decadent.  See Bernard Lewis [2], pages 76 - 81.  When he returned to Egypt he wrote an influential book, Milestones (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milestones_(book)), which is available as a PDF download.  From beginning to end, he wants to replace our culture with Islam.  On page 5 he writes, "It is necessary to revive that Muslim community which is buried under the debris of man-made traditions....".  These human traditions are Western Culture and civil laws passed by legislatures.  Then on page 132 he writes, "The struggle between the Believers and their enemies is in essence a struggle of belief...."  The struggle is between Western Civilization and Sharia.  

Here is an example.  Singing or playing Western Operas is forbidden by Sharia, but Google Fatma Said and you will see an Egyptian who sings Western Operas.    This is why the Muslim Brotherhood was created: to stamp out Western influences from Egyptian culture.  The best way to root out Western culture from Egyptian culture is to destroy Western Civilization.

 

These people that we call Jihadis have a very long memory.  In 1989 Ayatollah Khomeini
 issued a death sentence on Salman Rushdie.  In 2022, 33 years after the death sentence, a Muslim nearly stabbed Rushie to death (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stabbing_of_Salman_Rushdie).

We must understand that we are in a very long struggle.  From 622 to 2026 is over 1,400 years of Jihad and it is estimated that 270 million people have been killed by Jihad [3], pages 22 to 23.

Twenty five years after 9/11 and we are just waking up to the threat.  John Adams wrote, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." (https://oll.libertyfund.org/quotes/john-adams-religion-constitution) He meant Christian morality.  We are facing complicated threats because Sharia is an all encompassing totalitarian political system that is antithetical to our Constitutional system of government.  Patience, persistence and careful legislation will be needed if our nation, our very civilization, is to survive.

As we remember the tragedy of 9/11, let us also remember that we have an ongoing threat to survive.
